Ceasefire now! Statement on Gaza

Posted byDaniel Hopkins October 19, 2023September 26, 2024

At Michigan United, we are deeply concerned about the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. We understand the profound impact of systemic oppression and injustice, and we firmly believe that solidarity knows no borders.

We call for an immediate ceasefire. We believe every human being, regardless of their background or nationality, deserves to live in dignity and security. This crisis has resulted in the denial of essential humanitarian supplies, including food, water, medicine, fuel, and electricity to the people of Gaza. This situation is untenable, and we demand swift and unimpeded access to these vital resources for all the residents of Gaza.

In support of this crucial cause, we are proud to endorse the Ceasefire Now March and Rally in Washington, D.C., scheduled for October 20. We strongly encourage all individuals and organizations to support this event and its demand for an immediate ceasefire. It is our belief that by coming together in solidarity, we can amplify our collective voices and bring about positive change.

Furthermore, we call upon Congress and President Joe Biden to take a stand for justice by advocating for an immediate ceasefire, and we urge every member of Congress to sign onto the Congressional Resolution that calls for this ceasefire. The United States has a role to play in promoting peace and justice worldwide, and we must hold our elected officials accountable for taking meaningful action.

In unity, we can effect change and contribute to a more just and equitable world.
