Join us for Trees of Liberation Day this Wednesday
“This space is an invitation to slow down, breathe, and come back to what grounds us,” said Micah Whittaker of Michigan United. “We’re bringing together faith leaders, community advocates, and movement partners to pause the grind and reconnect with our values and our purpose,” said Micah Whittaker, Michigan United staff member and the event organizer.
Join us for Michigan United’s Trees of Liberation Day, a gathering designed to restore peace, reflect on democracy, and root ourselves in care, collaboration, and movement-building.
Throughout the morning, we will share restorative practices such as yoga, meditation, and sound healing. Faith leaders will offer reflections from diverse spiritual traditions, creating space for us to reflect and be present. As Whittaker noted, “Liberation is something we root in our connection to the land, in our spirit, and in one another.”
A highlight of the day will be the Tree Decorum, where each organization will decorate a tree with messages of hope, resistance, and remembrance—lifting up their work and our collective togetherness. In addition, there will be opportunities for movement-building conversations, rest, and genuine reconnection across cultures and perspectives.
This is a faith-friendly, movement-focused, and nonviolent space, open to all who believe in love, care, and collective liberation. We invite you to:
“As we come together under the trees, let’s ground ourselves in care, collaboration, and movement building,” Whittaker said.
